Knits like a hat, eats like a vase cozy

Categories: Knitting | No Comments

This is the result of last night’s waste of time. I didn’t bother with any stinking knit gauge measurements, so my “hat” turned out very tiny and a bit too spherical to even work for a newborn. It does make a nice cozy for my faux river rock bud vase, tho.

It wasn’t exactly in need of a cozy, but hey…

My wise and noble friend has wisely advised me to get off my ass, stop staying up all night knitting “hats” and get started living my life already.

My Second Knitting Project

Second scarf, same as the first. A little bit faster and a little bit worse.

A duplicate of the scarf I knitted for my sister a few days ago, but I actually made more mistakes with this one. I was watching my favorite show Chuck and in the course of three rows I somehow went from ten stitches across to thirteen. After I long time I noticed the change and I tapered back down, so this scarf is a little thicker in the middle and narrower toward the ends.

Check out this gorgeous color! It’s “Baroque” from Lion Brand yarns in the Homespun texture.

Pretty purple yarn

And here is the finished scarf. It’s a birthday present for my mom, but she’s sleeping, so I asked Dad to model it instead. Right-click and “view image” to see the pic uncropped.

These projects were super forgiving — knitting two strands together on needles as big as my index finger, with super nubbly yarn. Even with the mistakes, I’m very happy with how they came out.

The knit dress is almost done. I’ll put pictures of it up just as soon as I lose 10 pounds.
