Puzzle lamp cookie cutter

Categories: Personal |

I’m really tempted to use pliers and sheet metal to make my own cookie cutter, like Jennifer Andrews here:

I want to make it in this shape:

(A big triangle with hooked corners, like a triskel, would work just as well for geodesic dome building. It’s three sides vs four.)

It could easily melt out perfect puzzle pieces from various pieces of waste plastic that pass through my life. You could heat the cookie cutter up on the stove and use pliers to hold it, put the plastic on a heat resistant surface, and pop out the complex shape just like that.

It would work well with many different types and colors of transparent or translucent plastic, and when you collect enough pieces, you can hook them all together to make a beautiful mod lamp, like so:

I like this project idea because it’s so elegant in so many ways. Crafty, cheap, green, efficient, etc. Also, it’s possible I could run into some really pretty colors or patterns of plastic in my retail-soaked existence, and it could come out looking like stained glass.

It’s been fun to take an Internet day just for myself, altho I really wasn’t supposed to.
